Empowered Leaders presents: Safe Sport Workshops
Empowered Leaders brings together people who shape sport in Oman: coaches, teachers, school sports staff, and community leaders. The idea is simple: when leaders are equipped with the right knowledge and confidence, they can change the experience of every young person who steps onto a field, court, or track.
This September, Empowered Leaders is proud to present something special. The Oman School Sports Association, together with the British Embassy Muscat, is bringing a world-class Safe Sport workshop to Oman. It's a full evening of learning, discussion, and practical tools you can use in your own club, school, or team.

Meet your speaker: Nicola Minichiello
The workshop is delivered by Nicola Minichiello, Safeguarding Officer at the International Olympic Committee. Nicola is a former Olympic bobsleigh athlete, so she understands sport from the athlete's side as well as from the side of those who protect it. She now works with the IBSF (International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation) and the IOC to make sport safer and more respectful for everyone. It is rare to hear from someone with this experience in the room, and we're honored to welcome her.

What will you take away?
Safeguarding is not only about rules. It's about people. Over three hours, you'll explore:
• Defining safeguarding: what it really means and why it matters
• Recognizing the signs: knowing what to look for and when to act
• Understanding the impact: how harm affects athletes, on and off the field
• Creating a safe space: building a culture where every athlete feels protected and valued
• Your role and your influence: what you can do, starting now
Whether you coach a team, teach PE, or lead a club, you have more influence than you think. This workshop helps you use it well.
