Oman Rugby attend the Asia Rugby 2023 general assembly meeting to look to the future
Last week, Nabil Al Busaidi, the Chairman of Oman Rugby ORC, and Mohd Bahrani, the ORC representative from the Ministry of Culture Sports and Youth, attended the Asia Rugby end of year council meeting and AGM.
Asia Rugby is the regional body under World Rugby and has 36 members, all the way from nations such as Guam, all the way up to India and rugby power house Japan.
The meeting was held over 2 days in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and coincided with the Central Asian Rugby 7s tournament.
Important regional issues were discussed, including opportunities for funding for development projects in Oman and other developing nations.
In addition, global issues were tackled, including a suggestion proposed by UAE Rugby to save time in rugby 7s.
Trials will now take place where a try scored between the posts will automatically count as 7 points without the need for conversion.
Valuable connections were made, and the spirit of cooperation was enhanced over the 2 days, with many delegates looking forward to meeting up at the Dubai 7s and continue discussions started in far away Tashkent...
