Oman National team head to Jebel Akhdar

Touch Rugby team successfully concludes transformative Team Building Weekend in the lead up to the World Cup

The Oman National Touch Rugby squad recently completed a dynamic team-building weekend, organised by Outward Bound Oman, and held in their amazing mountain top facilities amidst the serene backdrop of Jebel Akhdar.

Outward Bound Oman is an educational not for profit foundation established by ministerial decision, and is part of the international Outward Bound community that started in Wales in 1941.

Using the mountains and deserts of Oman, their courses help develop people from all walks of life. Through the generosity of partners, they are able to run adventurous and challenging outdoor learning programmes that equip people with valuable skills for education, work and life. From young to not so young they offer life changing skills along with leadership and personal development programs.

Led by Head of Rugby Development and National Coach Brian Hopkins, the weekend away aimed to strengthen bonds and enhance teamwork. Throughout the weekend, players engaged in a variety of activities, including high-intensity training sessions, collaborative problem-solving exercises, and leadership tasks. These activities were meticulously designed to challenge, inspire, and unite the team together.

Reflective discussions provided opportunities for the team to understand each other and gain personal growth, while some fun and strategic games fostered teamwork and communication skills. This initiative underscored Oman Rugby's commitment to development, recognizing the pivotal role of camaraderie in achieving success both on and off the field.

The weekend created by the Outward Bound Oman team has made a real difference in the level of teamwork and understanding between the players and staff of the squad, and we are exceptionally grateful to the Executive Director Richard Lewis, and all the staff, for giving the team an extra edge in their tournament preparations.

Oman Rugby looks forward to carrying the momentum forward, leveraging the strengthened bonds and shared experiences to elevate their performance in the Touch Rugby World Cup being held in the UK during July.

The weekend was further enhanced by the dusitD2 Naseem Resort and allowing the team to enjoy the adventure park and zipline experience. A great experience from the hotel and one deserved after the weekend.
