Oman Rugby, in collaboration with World Rugby and Asia Rugby, successfully hosted the World Rugby Level 2 Coaching 7s Course on February 7th and 8th, 2025. This marks the first Level 2 coaching course in Oman since pre-2022, signaling the increased focus on coach development and rugby growth in the Sultanate.
Developing the Future of Rugby in Oman
Held over two days, the course brought together 11 coaches from clubs across Oman, equipping them with advanced coaching principles to elevate their teams. The program was led by Ghaith Jalajel, a World Rugby Master Trainer, alongside Brian Hopkins, World Rugby Educator and Head of Rugby Oman.
Participants engaged in an intensive mix of theory and practical sessions, covering essential topics such as:
✅ Principles of Play
✅ The Coaching Process
✅ Player Welfare & Safety
✅ Game Plan Development
✅ Team & Player Profiling
✅ Laws of the Game & Variations
Practical coaching tasks helped reinforce these concepts, providing hands-on experience to apply in real-game scenarios.

This course represents a major milestone in Oman Rugby’s strategic plan to strengthen the sport by ensuring coaches are equipped with the right tools and knowledge to improve player development and match performance.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with one coach stating:
“The course was a great reminder that rugby is a simple yet brilliant game and something amazing to be part of.”
